Every night people in Atlanta sleep on the street

During one of those nights, volunteers take to the streets to collect data on who makes up the homeless population in Atlanta.

General Population

In Atlanta, the overall population and the Atlanta Homeless Population are not evenly distributed across demographics. In the Point-in-Time survey for Atlanta, African-Americans and men were disproportionately affected compared to the population in Atlanta. In Atlanta, coordination and resources are spread across many different groups: faith community, nonprofits, shelters, medical facilities, public safety, philanthropic efforts, the City of Atlanta, improvement districts, and other organizations.

At-Risk Groups

Trans Persons

Between 0.2% - 1.2% of those in the Partners for Home Point-in-Time Count identified as Trans. The Atlanta Youth Council put the Trans Homeless number at least 750, 30x higher than the Point-in-Time count.

1 in 5 Trans Persons Experience Homelessness

Veterans

2 in 10 Veterans experience homelessness in Atlanta

While there has been a decrease in the amount of sheltered and unsheltered veterans, there has also been a decrease in the services that support veterans, possibly opening the city up to more homeless veterans losing their support networks.
